SOME HISTORY

At the end of the 9th century the bishop of  Metz, Thierry de Hamelant, built a Church, a monastery and a market on the only site of  Spinal already dominated  with a castle.

The old  Saint Maurice Church (11th-13th century) is the prestigious evidence of  the conjunction of styles coming from the Lorraine, the Alsace, the  Bourgogne and the Champagne areas. We must particularly mention the resumption of the Textile industry, the earthenware,

the paper, clothes and sheets trade and beneath all the coloured-print trade that transcended time and national boundaries. Today the town develops an intense industrial and tertiary activity that is in fact the centre of the economic decisions of the south of the Lorraine.
